Welcome to an Incredible 2026-2027 School Year at KMS!

We have an exciting school year planned with our amazing staff ready to welcome your child back to school! We want to see students trying new things, learning from their mistakes, and discovering new passions. Above all, we want them to feel safe and supported while they work hard to achieve their goals.
Our master schedule for the 2026–2027 school year includes foundational support, advanced learning, and unique electives so that your child will have the opportunity to find their passion. Here are some of the fantastic things we’re doing this year to support your child's journey:

We're Kickstarting the Day: Dedicated Advisory Time
Every single day will start strong with an Advisory period (Period 1). This is a special, dedicated block where students will focus on important life skills. They will work on goal setting, future readiness, and developing better study habits alongside an Advisory teacher that will become your child's mentor.

Collaborative Student Teams
Your student's teachers for core subjects—ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies—will work together in professional teams. This collaborative approach allows our educators to align their lessons and create a unified support system to help your student thrive across all subjects.

Innovative New Electives & STEM Offerings
We want students trying new things, and this year’s schedule is packed with opportunities for exploration! We are proud to offer an expanded roster of hands-on and creative courses, including:
  • STEM & Tech: Medical Detectives, Engineering First Lego, Auto & Robotics, and STEAM 6.
  • Arts & Communications: Theatre, Journalism, Ceramics, and comprehensive music programs including Jazz Band, Choir, and Orchestra.
  • Future Readiness: AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and Career exploration classes.

We also have pathways for additional support and enrichment. We are committed to meeting every student where they are. We have built dedicated support and enrichment directly into the school day:
  • Targeted Interventions: We offer specific intervention blocks for Math and Language Arts to ensure every student gets the extra help they need to succeed.
  • Advanced & Specialized Tracks: For students looking for an extra challenge, we are offering Accelerated Math, Gifted/Talented (GT) Sciences and Reading, and an immersive Dual Language (DL) History courses.

Early Release Wednesdays
To make all of this collaboration possible, Wednesdays will continue to be Early Release days. This time allows our teachers to work together as a cohesive team, share innovative ideas, and meticulously plan lessons designed to help all students succeed.
We are excited about these offerings and what they will mean for your child's education. We believe that this will be a great year of helping all of our KMS students do their absolute best.
Welcome back, and let's make this the best year ever!
