Another Story of Achievement

We are excited to announce that our awesome English Language Learners did amazing on the annual WIDA ACCESS test. They set individual goals prior to the assessment and 96% of the students met this goal. In fact, many students more than quadrupled their goal! We are so incredibly proud of these students and grateful for our EL Specialist, Trina Hallenberger, whose heart and dedication has guided them towards their success!

Students celebrated this outstanding achievement with donuts and popcorn! Yay!!

Field Day

8th Grade Field Day May 28th!

The 8th Grade Field Day celebration will be held on campus at KMS on Thursday, May 28th. Students should arrive at the regular time and will be released from the back field at the normal dismissal time of 2:25. The cost to attend is $15, which includes a T-shirt, a BBQ hot dog lunch, and treats like popcorn, cotton candy, and Kona Ice. The day will be packed with activities, including an obstacle course, dunk tank, and yearbook signing. Please note that participation is a privilege; students must remain in good behavioral standing and be passing all classes to attend. Parents interested in chaperoning must pass a background check via the school website, and payments/permission slips should be completed through ParentSquare.

From Kuna with Love: Soldier Care Package Drive

Three motivated young ladies in the 8th-Grade Advanced WIN class aim to send care packages to 40 service members overseas. You can support their project by donating essential items—such as high-quality socks, snacks, and hygiene products—directly to KMS or by contributing to the fund to cover expensive shipping costs.

Advisory Update

Beyond The ISATs

This week in Advisory, our students explored the importance of maintaining momentum as the school year draws to a close. Through our Beyond the ISATs sessions, we focused on the idea that learning is a continuous journey that doesn’t simply end once state testing is over. Students identified their major accomplishments from the year and discussed how to avoid the "post-test trap" by staying engaged and building "brain muscle" for next year. We are encouraging everyone to finish the term with pride, using these final weeks to strengthen their academic habits and prevent the "summer slide."

Building on this momentum, students also channeled their energy into Passion Projects, where they stepped into the role of independent researchers. This initiative allowed them to dive deep into topics they are genuinely curious about—ranging from world wonders and historical mysteries to personal hobbies and creative skills. Using an Inquiry Roadmap, they practiced defining "Big Questions," evaluating reliable sources, and synthesizing their findings. Next week they will share those finding with their peers.
