Success During ISAT Season

As we enter the spring testing season, our halls are filled with students showing off the hard work they’ve put in all year. Students have been challenged to move into deeper levels of thinking—learning how to break down complex problems, evaluate different perspectives, and communicate their ideas clearly. Our teachers have focused on instruction that encourages students to be active participants in their learning, teaching them how to persevere through difficult tasks and think critically about the world around them.

The upcoming ISAT sessions are a chance for our students to show how much they’ve grown as thinkers and problem-solvers. We have a busy few weeks ahead, and we want to ensure every student feels confident and prepared.

🗓️ Important Testing Dates
Please mark your calendars for the upcoming ISAT sessions:
  • 8th Grade Science: Monday & Tuesday, April 13 & 14
  • School-wide ELA: Tuesday & Thursday, April 21 & 23
  • School-wide Math: Tuesday & Thursday, April 28 & 30

Three Ways to Support Your Student
While the students do the heavy lifting in the classroom, a little extra support at home makes a world of difference:
  1. Prioritize Sleep: A well-rested brain processes information faster and stays focused longer. Help your child get to bed a little earlier than usual on the nights before testing.
  2. Nutritious Fuel: A solid breakfast—and staying hydrated—prevents the "mid-morning slump" and keeps energy levels steady through the final question.
  3. Positive Encouragement: A simple "I’m proud of your hard work" or "Just do your best" goes a long way. Remind them that these tests are just a chance to show what they’ve learned, and their effort is what truly counts.

Thank you for helping us make this a successful and stress-free testing season for all our students!

Advisory Update

Spring Door Decoration Contest

Advisory classes worked hard this week on a school-wide project to promote positive thinking for the upcoming ISAT tests. The project was also friendly competition between classes! Students worked together create outstanding displays, fostering an atmosphere of focus and determination. These positive reminders throughout the building provide a supportive environment as our students enter testing season.

Congratulations to Mrs. Haro's Advisory class who received a perfect score from the judges!

There was also a FOUR-WAY tie for second place.
Students decorate hallway doors with colorful artwork and displays.
A decorated classroom door celebrates Room 15 as winners of the hallway spirit competition, featuring colorful paper flowers, butterflies, and bees.

Reminders:

No Toys or costumes at school

As you know, Kuna Middle School has had students either bringing items to school that are distracting or using items inappropriately to purposefully distract from learning. We do not allow students to carry toys with them. This includes stuffed animals, large fidgets, squishy fidgets, etc. We also do not allow students to wear costumes to school including wearing "tails". These are sometimes fashion items however they are distracting to the learning environment and not appropriate for school.
Thanks for your support with helping to keep a positive learning environment for all students.
If you need help determining an appropriate item that your child can use for support, please contact your child's counselor.
