Kuna High parking could expand thanks to agreement with developer

Trustees approved an agreement to expand parking at Kuna High School at no cost to the district or taxpayers.

Under the agreement, GHW Holdings, LLC, the developer of the Selkirk Ranch Subdivision, will add 128 parking spaces to the Kuna High School parking lot as a voluntary contribution.

Idaho law does not allow school districts to charge impact fees for new development, so the Kuna School District asks developers to consider voluntary contributions to help address growth-related needs.

This contribution, valued at about $360,000, would increase parking capacity at Kuna High School while saving local taxpayers the cost of the improvement.

Pending city approvals, the project is expected to be completed this summer.

Celebrations

Annual Daddy Daughter Dance

HOSA (Future Health Professionals) advisor Michelle Graves and student members shared highlights from the group’s 13th Daddy Daughter Dance held in February.

The annual event serves as a community service project for students and helps raise funds to support their participation in state and national competitions. This year’s event drew more than 1,500 attendees from the community.

New superintendent welcome

Superintendent Kim Bekkedahl thanked the Board for their successful search and welcomed her successor, Marcus Myers. Mr. Myers expressed his honor in being selected and his enthusiasm for joining the district.

Other reports & actions

Trustees discuss options for Fourth Street Gym

Trustees discussed the potential sale of the Fourth Street Gym to the City of Kuna.

If the property is sold, district staff offices and warehouse space currently located there would need to be relocated.

Staff presented two options for relocation, as well as information on repairs that would be needed if the gym is not sold.

No action was taken, and trustees will continue negotiations with the city.

The Board approved the following employment terms for incoming Superintendent Marcus Myers, who begins July 1, 2026, after Kim Bekkedahl’s retirement:
  • Contract: 3 years (240 days/year)
