IT'S GREAT TO HAVE STUDENTS BACK!

Thank-you to all the families who came to Open House this week. We had a large turn out to meet the teachers and tour the school.

It was a great first day of school on Thursday and we are so happy to have students back at Kuna Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year!

In this newsletter we have updates on the latest news at KMS. See the links below for more information!

Have a great weekend! Go Kavemen!

Attendance

Student attendance is an indicator of success in school. Students should be in attendance as much as possible. If your child needs to be absent from school due to illness or family situation, please communicate with the school as soon as possible. You can excuse your child in the following ways:
  1. Call: 208-955-0257
  2. Email: kmsattendance@kunaschools.org
  3. Parent Square Direct Message: Anastasia Webster-Attendance.
  4. If parents receive a Parent Square notification that their child is absent you may reply to the message to excuse your child.
We are working through attendance from the first two days, due to schedule changes, through the beginning of next week. If you have excused your child, don't worry, we will get it fixed in PowerSchool.

Student Grade Checks on Fridays

Kuna Middle School conducts grade checks for all students every Friday during the school year starting next week. We encourage you to take a few moments each weekend to review your child's academic progress with them. Parents will receive an email with their child's grades each Friday evening.
Monitoring your student's grades is an important way to stay informed about their performance and identify any areas that may need additional support or attention. By checking in on a weekly basis, you can help ensure they are on track to meet their learning goals.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child's grades, please don't hesitate to communicate with their teachers. The best way to contact teachers is through ParentSquare direct message.
We're here to work together and provide the resources and guidance needed for your student to succeed.

Photo Day Date

School Photo Day

Wednesday, August 27th we will have school photos taken during the school day. In order to make School Photo Day a success, please note the following details:

  • We use a white background during our photography sessions. To ensure the best results, we kindly ask that students avoid wearing white, as it will blend into the background.
  • After Photo Day, we will send a secure link to view and purchase photos to the email addresses and cell phone numbers provided in PowerSchool. Parents will also be able to go to our website, www.DirectPhoto.net, where you can view your student’s photos using their Student ID Number.

Parking Lot Drop Off & Pick Up

It is important for us to ensure student safety during busy pick-up and drop-off times in the school parking lot. To ensure everyone's wellbeing, we ask that all parents follow these simple guidelines:
  • Drive slowly and cautiously through the lot, being alert for students, crossing guards, and other vehicles.
  • Use designated pick-up/drop-off zones and avoid double parking or blocking traffic flow. This keeps the lot moving efficiently and reduces congestion.
  • Have your student use crosswalks whenever possible. Avoid cutting through the lot on foot.
  • Be patient and courteous to other parents and staff.
By working together and following these basic safety protocols, we can provide a secure environment for our KMS community during these hectic transition times. Let's all do our part to keep our young Kavemen protected. Thank you for your cooperation!
