Thank you for voting
As we start this Thanksgiving Break there are so many things I am thankful for in our Kuna community.

I want to express our sincere gratitude for all who voted and for the passage of our two-year supplemental levy on Nov. 5. We saw more than 18,300 vote in our election with about 10,700 voting yes.

We are so grateful for your support and that it allows us to maintain services to our students.

Engaging with our state lawmakers
We appreciate local lawmakers—Senator Lori Den Hartog, Senator Todd Lakey, Representative John Vander Woude, Representative Jason Monks, and newly elected Representatives Chris Bruce and Shawn Dygart—for joining business and community leaders, parents, school board members Kim Nixon and Hillary Lowe and district leaders last week.

During the levy election, we heard concerns from the community about how Idaho funds its schools, including the reliance on property taxes. Lawmakers shared ideas that may come up in the legislative session starting in January.

A special thanks to Enrique’s for the wonderful lunch and for giving our culinary arts students a hands-on learning experience.

Superintendent Advisory Council identifies concerns
Last week, this group of parents and students met to discuss concerns related to policies, facilities, students, teachers, and parents. We’ll explore these topics in more detail in the coming months.

Snowflake
Monitoring winter weather conditions
We’ve seen some light snow this month! While snow days are rare, we closely monitor conditions and prioritize safety. Winter weather can impact traffic, including our buses, so expect potential delays when storms hit. You can find out more about our process on our website.

In case you missed it, cell phone policy under review
At this month’s school board meeting, Chair Kim Nixon shared that student cell phone use in our schools is under review to determine if any changes are needed.
