From the Principal: Making Kuna Middle School the Best for Our Kids
Dear Kuna Middle School Families,
With the holidays coming up, we want to remind you that staying connected with you is important to us. We’re excited to share updates, opportunities, and news from Kuna Middle School to keep you informed and involved in your student’s journey here.
This year, our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) has really helped us shape our school events and culture. They make sure that what matters to you is part of what we do, helping us create a school where everyone feels heard, valued, and supported. To keep this teamwork going, we’d love for you to join our next PAC meeting on Monday, November 18th, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the library. Your voice is a big part of our vision for Kuna Middle School!
If you have any questions or ideas, please reach out anytime. Let’s keep working together to make Kuna Middle School the best place for our students to grow and succeed!

High School Tour
Our 8th graders got a glimpse into the future this week by touring Kuna and Swan Falls Career & Technical Education programs. They explored broadcasting, agriculture, engineering. culinary arts, and so much more!
7th Grade Earns Reward!
In their science class each week, students complete two reading stems to prepare them for the LA ISAT. To make things more fun, there is a monthly competition between grade levels. For the month of October, 7th grade won! They chose popcorn as their reward.
Congratulations to the undefeated 7th graders!
Recess Guidelines
The decision to cancel outdoor recess will be made 10 minutes before students are released based on the digital outdoor thermometers at each school.
22°F and above: students and recess monitors will go out.
18-22°F: Shortened recess and teachers may choose to keep students in but recess monitors will go out OR
A room will be open for students who want to stay in with one recess monitor. Other students may go outside and will be supervised by the other monitor on duty.
18°F and below:
Before school starts students will be sent to the gyms. Recess monitors will supervise students until they are sent directly to class at 8:00 a.m. Monitors will help to direct students to their classrooms.

Students began the week be observing the patterns in the shapes of volcanoes and used those observations to categorize volcanoes into groups.
Students also completed a series of stations to learn about volcano formation, characteristics, and monitoring. Below are some fun photos of the labs completed this week.
Students have shown a lot of interest in this topic and have asked amazing questions this week. Be sure to have a conversation with your student about their learning!
STEM
Our students had so much fun and learning with STEM this week!

National Hug a Musician Day
The Extended Resource Rooms celebrated National Hug a Musician Day on November 13th by recognizing two amazing musicians here at KMS; Mrs. Peterson and Ms. Whitmore, who run the music department. We appreciate our music teachers so much because band, orchestra, and choir not only provide an outlet for creativity but stimulate students' brains to encourage learning. How cool is that?? Hooray to all the musicians at Kuna Middle School!
