From the Principal: Cultivating Community & Consistency
|
Dear Kuna Middle School Families,
We are so excited to see the energy growing here in our school community as our students and staff give their best every day! It’s inspiring to watch our school community grow together—learning a lot in the classroom, cheering each other on at events, and seeing so many parents and grandparents stepping up to help when needed. We’re building a school where every student feels valued, opening doors for personal growth, new discoveries, and lifelong friendships.
I want to thank you for trusting and working with us to support your student’s learning journey. Every day, we see the positive impact of our community’s commitment, and it pushes us to keep doing our best. We invite you to partner with us to create a steady routine at home, with regular study time, open communication, and family time. These things can make a big difference in your student’s success. Together, we can help students feel confident to grow, learn, and do their best.
Partners in Learning,
Shelly Manuel
Principal, KMS

Happy Halloween!
Students turned into mad scientists for Halloween and made Glowing Boogers! This spooky lab actually combined Calcium Chloride and Sodium Alginate (plus a little glow powder) for a super cool chemical reaction!
Did you know both of these items are food ingredients?! Calcium Chloride is used in making pickles and sodium alginate is a thickening/gelling agent. That means you can try this at home!

This week we celebrated Red Ribbon Week saying "no to drugs". We had some fun dress up days including twin day. Our 7th and 8th grade CAST students hosted a "Natural High" booth during lunch where students shared their natural highs and got to pick a red treat. 6th grade CAST did an amazing job with "Chalk the Walk". We also had the privilege of having Rocky Herron come into our AVID class and give a presentation along with Sgt Keene. Then our AVID students went out and gave a presentation to other KMS students about why drugs are bad. It was a great week of saying no to drugs!

Thank you Trooper Christensen!

Trooper Christensen from the Idaho State Police came to visit our ERR students. She showed them the tools she uses to help citizens, all the tools on her belt and the inside of her patrol car. The students had a lot of fun asking questions. Thank you Trooper Christensen for visiting us!

Food Insecurity is on the rise at Kuna Middle School
Feed it Forward is a program hosted by KMS PTO for KMS students.
It allows anyone to donate in order to cover needed school lunch funds.
Students are not allowed to charge meals.
Insufficient funds= no lunch
Short $.50 =no lunch
But, Feed it Forward can cover a student that day, so they can have a
hot lunch.
KMS PTO donated $500 in March to the program, that money was well spent covering student lunches.
They have donated another $500, but it will likely be gone in six weeks or less.
Please consider donating.
How to donate:
Scan the QR code, Specify Feed it Forward on your donation
If you would like a receipt, please reach out to the KMS PTO and they will provide one.
KMS PTO is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization
Thank you for supporting KMS and it's students
